Abstract: Objective: Excessive growth teeth may affect the restoration of missing teeth especially in elderly patients. This article showed the clinical application of intentional pulpotomy on excessive growth teeth. Diagnosis and treatment: Pulpotomy was performed on 6 excessive growth teeth with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) or iRoot® BP PLUS as capping materials. 1 week later, the coronal cavities were filled permanently with composite resin. Results: At 6 months and 36 months of follow-up, all teeth were symptom-free and clinically functional, without any evidence of pulpitis or apical periodontitis in either clinical or radiographic examinations. Conclusions: Intentional pulpotomy would be an effective treatment option for excessive growth teeth especially in elderly patients.
