Abstract: Objective: We used digital denture design software to assist the online teaching of dental technology, and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of online teaching,in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Providing the reference basis to further improve the quality of online teaching dental technology. Methods: The students of Capital Medical University School of Stomatology who participated in the practice from 2021—2022 were selected as the research objects, including 29 students of grade 2018 as the online teaching group and 22 students of grade 2017 as the traditional teaching group. The stage assessment results of the two groups were compared, and questionnaires were collected to analyze the teaching effect. Results: In the theoretical knowledge assessment, the score of the online teaching group was slightly higher than that of the traditional teaching group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). In the practical operation ability assessment, the score of the online teaching group was lower than that of the traditional group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The questionnaire survey showed that most of the students thought that the digital denture design software combined with online teaching was helpful to understand the knowledge. Conclusion: Online teaching can not replace offline teaching, but it can combine with digital technology to help students understand the teaching content and serve as a supplement to offline teaching.
